Cinema-goers are in for a tasty treat later this year, as darkly comedic psychological thriller The Menu is set to hit screens, featuring an impressive cast of Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult and Ralph Fiennes.

The movie will see young couple Margot (played by Taylor-Joy from The Queen’s Gambit and The Northman) and Tyler (Hoult from Skins and The Great) travel to a remote island to eat at Hawthorne, an exclusive restaurant run by celebrity chef, Slowik.

The chef (played by Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish molecular gastronomy menu where food is treated as conceptual art. However, his approach to cuisine has some shocking surprises for the wealthy guests.

Safe to say that nobody will forget the meal he has prepared - and some may not survive.

An official trailer for the movie has landed, showing Margot and Tyler boarding a small boat for an eating experience which only 12 diners will attend. When Margot questions how they turn a profit, Tyler says: “$1250 a head, that’s how.” To which she jokes: “What are we eating, a Rolex?”

Later in the trailer, Tyler says: “You have to try the mouthfeel of the mignonette.” Margot responds: “Please don’t say mouthfeel.”

As the action progresses, things get weirder and more sinister, as the guests try to work out what is real and what is performance, and it seems that the chef knows more about them than the expected. Tyler explains: “The game is trying to guess what the overarching theme of the entire meal is going to be. You won’t know until the end.”

Check out the trailer here, which shows guns being fired, fingers being chopped off, and the guests being given a “45-second head start” to do a runner. Scary stuff!

The Menu is directed by the award-winning Mark Mylod, who is known for his work on The Royle Family, Entourage, Game of Thrones, and Succession.

Along with the three leads, the movie will also star Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light and John Leguizamo.

We’re excited to see this movie, but we’re not sure we are particularly keen to eat at chef Slowik’s restaurant, if we're honest!

The Menu arrives in cinemas on 18th November.
