The Big Breakfast with Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu is back for the summer and Channel 4 has finally announced a launch date.

Last year, the show came back onto our screens for the first time since 2002 with the pair at the helm and ended up winning an RTS Award for their Black to Front one-off special in September.

The episode featured interviews, games and phone-ins, which included a surprise call from Idris Elba, and now the show is back for a four-week run beginning the 13th August at 10am.

In its original run from 1992 to 2002, The Big Breakfast included the likes of Zoe Ball, Johnny Vaughan and Virgin Radio’s very own Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin.

This new series promises to carry on the riotous and joyful spirit of the original show for a jam-packed two and a half hours every Saturday morning.

It was announced The Big Breakfast would be returning for the summer back in May this year, but Channel 4 has now confirmed the launch date.

In a statement at the time, returning host AJ said: “There really is nothing like The Big Breakfast on our screens. I loved hosting it last year and I am looking forward to being back at the house to kick off summer weekends on this now award-winning show.”

Mo added: “I love being part of this incredible history making show. The whole team are so spectacular, and I have so much fun working with AJ - she’s one of the best in the business. And now a live summer series? LET’S GO!"

The comedian joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky back in May to talk about stepping into the presenter's boots when it came to The Big Breakfast and winning a BAFTA for the Lateish show.

Speaking about the big win, he said: On his big BAFTA moment, Mo explained: “I was absolutely fried because I came back from LA. I got there at 11am. And I didn't know it was as early as it was. I was so tired. But at the same time, it was nice to be back in a room with everyone, people I haven't seen for a long time. We had a little after party with close friends and family afterwards. So yeah, it was a big moment.”

The Big Breakfast returns to Channel 4 on 13th August at 10am.
