Avatar director James Cameron has given audiences a warning that the upcoming sequel The Way of Water - which has been cooking for almost 13 years - is going to be so long you'll have to ‘get up and go pee’ during it.

It's thought it will hit around three hours and director has Cameron given some words of wisdom to anyone moaning about the length of the movie.

In an interview with Empire, he said: “I don't want anybody whining about length when they sit and binge-watch [TV] for eight hours.

"I can almost write this part of the review. 'The agonisingly long three-hour movie...' It's like, give me a f***ing break.

“I've watched my kids sit and do five one-hour episodes in a row."

He continued: “Here's the big social paradigm shift that has to happen: it's okay to get up and go pee.”

The first Avatar racked up 162 minutes, while Marvel’s Infinity War lasts 152 minutes and End Game comes in at three hours.

What's three hours when it comes to the biggest box office movie of all time?

A drop in the ocean (read: toilet).
