Macaulay Culkin set to star in new thriller Rich Flu

He played Richie Rich back in the 90s, and now Macaulay Culkin is set to appear in a movie called Rich Flu, which is a pandemic-themed thriller.

The narrative sees a strange disease kill off some of the most influential people in the world.

In the high-concept social thriller, a deadly disease starts killing off the richest people on the planet. First it comes for the billionaires, then the multi-millionaires, and so on.

As the whole world starts to panic and heads towards collapse, people with any kind of wealth try to flood the market with assets they no longer want, in hope that it will save their skin.

As reported by Variety, filming is expected to begin in the autumn. Culkin star will feature alongside Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl, and the film will be directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.

Golden Globe and Emmy winning English actor Rosamund Pike is known for movies such as Gone Girl, Jack Reacher and The World’s End.

Daniel Brühl has featured in the likes of Captain America: Civil War, The King’s Man, and the amazing German-language film, Good Bye Lenin. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs for Ron Howard’s Rush.

Macaulay Culkin is, of course, known for his breakthrough performance as a child in the iconic family film, Home Alone. If you can believe it, he is now 41! Yes, Macaulay Culkin is in his 40s! 

The star is working on a documentary series called Macaulay Culkin’s Midlife Crisis.

Deadline reports that the travelogue will see him “embark on a wild and intrepid journey to discover what hitting the big four-zero really means, and asks the questions which anyone who’s dealing with the process of ageing – and let’s face it, that’s all of us – needs to ask themselves.”
