Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof will see eight celebrities embarking on an epic adventure, under the training of the Dutch extreme athlete, who is also known as The Iceman. The celebs will live together in a tented village in sub-zero temperatures in Northern Italy, taking on increasingly daring challenges.

The BBC show is presented by Holly Willoughby and comedian Lee Mack, and the celebrities taking part in the once-in-a-lifetime epic adventure include Strictly professional dancer, Dianne Buswell, musical theatre legend Alfie Boe, and sports TV presenter Gabby Logan.

Also taking on the challenge is Welsh weatherman Owain Wyn Evans, who shot to fame with 24-hour drumathon for Children in Need last year. Former Manchester United star Patrice Evra is taking part, as is rapper Professor Green,

Actor Tamzin Outhwaite and singer/songwriter, TV presenter and footballer, Chelcee Grimes, make up the team.

The BBC’s official press release says: “Extreme athlete Wim Hof will be supervising the celebrities and guiding them through his series of radical challenges. Under his encouragement, the celebrities will reap the rewards of cold-water therapy and face a unique test of mental strength like no other.”

As reported by independent.ie, Lee Mack believes that the new series will be different to other celebrity challenge shows. “I’m not really a massive fan of this genre of television. But what I love about this one, is there’s no trying to be negative,” he said.

“What we’re not trying to do is starve people and deliberately get rows going and try and show that negativity that you see on a lot of these type of shows.

“It felt positive out there – and it came across as positive… It felt like there was not too much negativity.”

Holly Willoughby agreed, saying: “For a show that’s set in the cold, it had a whole lot of warmth.”

Speaking about Wim Hof, Lee Mack said: “Wim was amazing. I mean, he’s a proper bonafide lunatic. He’s the real McCoy.”

He added: “He is the most real person I’ve ever seen on TV.”

In case you aren’t aware of Wim ‘The Iceman’ Hof, he has dedicated his life to showing others that they can achieve things they thought were impossible. He has run a half-marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot, he has submerged himself in ice for just under two hours, and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in just his shorts and shoes.

Hof has also been teaching the benefits of cold-water therapy for decades, and has a huge following, including A-listers and athletes around the world.

Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof airs on BBC One on April 11th at 9pm.
