Harrison Ford joins Jason Segel for the new Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking

The award-winning actor will make his debut in an upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking, marking his first role in a major TV series.

Harrison Ford will feature in the ten episodes alongside Jason Segel, who also wrote the series and will serve as executive producer with Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence and actor Brett Goldstein.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Shrinking follows the story of Jimmy (Segel), a grieving therapist who decides he’s going to break the rules with his clients and tell them exactly what he thinks.

Disregarding his training and the ethics of therapy, Jimmy soon finds out this approach will make huge (and chaotic) changes to people’s lives, as well as his own.

Ford will be appearing as Dr Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth “blue collar shrink, blunt but with an ever present twinkle.”

Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a successful practice but has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which forces him to assess his life and move out of his comfort zone.

This will be the second Apple Original starring Segel, who also appeared in The Sky is Everywhere but will be the first role for Ford in a major TV series.

Ford has also reprised his role in the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 from director James Mangold which has recently wrapped filming.

The latest in the Indiana Jones franchise has been a while in the making after a string of delays and creative changes but will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas.

It’s been nearly 14 years since the last Indiana Jones film, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, premiered in cinemas in 2008, so hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too much longer- but a release date and title for the movie are still yet to be announced.
