First look at Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura

Behold, the new teaser for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has dropped starring Celia Rose Gooding.

Paramount shared the post on social media and wrote: "Cadet Uhura's future is hailing. #StarTrek#StrangeNewWorlds premieres May 5 on @ParamountPlus!"

Gooding said previously about the iconic role, played in the movie series by Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldaña and Nichelle Nichols on the OG Star Trek series: "I am thrilled and honoured to say that I will be playing Cadet Nyota Uhura.

"I am so excited to be stepping into this legacy."

The ten-episode series is set to premiere on May 5 and is based on the the years between Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: The Original Series, before Kirk boarded the USS Enterprise.

The Vampire Diaries' Paul Wesley is playing Kirk, while Ethan Peck is Spock, Anson Mount is Captain Pike and Rebecca Romijn is Number One.

Also starring are original Trek series' Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga and new characters including Christina Chong’s La’an Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia’s Lt. Erica Ortegas and Bruce Horak’s Hemmer.
