Disney+ has finally released the official trailer for one of Marvel’s most anticipated new series of 2022.

Ms Marvel stars Iman Vellani as the MCU’s first onscreen Muslim superhero Kamala Khan, who is a regular teenager living in New Jersey by day and a superhero with some incredible powers by night.

The show is set to premiere on Disney+ on 8 June, and we have finally been given a first glimpse at what to expect from the new character.

In the trailer, we see Kamala as she attempts to navigate teenage life with high school, family, relationships…oh, and her superpowers.

There are also lots of allusions to Kamala’s Pakistani heritage throughout the trailer and themes of racial identity.

At one point, we can hear her saying: “It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world…that’s just a fantasy too.”

Ms Marvel is based on the 2014 comic of the same name, and the series has been written by Bisha K Ali with Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon working as directors.

Feige and K Ali will also be serving as executive producers alongside Trevor Waterson and Sana Amanat as co-executive producers.

Joining Vellani on the cast will be Aramis Knight, Azhar Usman, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Nimra Bucha, Matt Lintz, Laith Nakli, and Travina Springer.

In addition to this series, Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige has also said there will be a future for Ms Marvel and confirmed Vellani will be returning as Kamala Khan in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels- set for release in February 2023.

The series will be dropping just two weeks after other Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, which begins on 25 May.

Ms Marvel will premiere on Disney+ on 8 June 2022.
