We don’t have long to wait until the new Disney+ drama lands on the streaming service.
The Dropout, starring Amanda Seyfried as fraudster CEO Elizabeth Holmes, focuses on the true story of Elizabeth’s fall from grace after her ingenious invention testing blood from home ends in disaster.
Theranos was a way of fast-tracking diagnoses with only a single drop of blood, but the science and technology never matched up, meaning Elizabeth, who was once named the youngest self-made billionaire, lost everything in the blink of an eye.
Amanda completely spirals out of control in the trailer, which shows her sparking the idea in her college dorm room, all the way through to the complete unravelling of her idea and sanity.
Starring alongside the Mean Girls star is William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf and Stephen Fry, just to name a few.
We also have the new release date for the drama, which is coming to Disney+ on 3rd March.
In the trailer, Amanda embodies Elizabeth’s obsessive nature, and kicks off the trailer with the intense line: “The world works in certain ways until a new great idea comes along and changes everything.”
Elizabeth’s rise to fame with her ingenious idea was a complete whirlwind, perfectly portrayed in the teaser with quick cuts from the humble tech beginnings to quickly becoming a big name in Silicon Valley.
“This machine is going to change the world.” a confident Elizbeth explains.
Amanda also shares the screen with Naveen Andrews, who plays ex-boyfriend and former business partner Sunny Balwani, who encourages her to take the leap despite not having enough knowledge to back up her claims.
The real Elizbeth Holmes is currently awaiting trial after being found guilty of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud against Theranos investors. She could be facing up to 20 years in prison, but is expected to appeal the verdict.
The Dropout will start with three episodes on 3rd March on Disney+, with new episodes streaming weekly.
