Could we see more of Adil Ray in a new series of Lingo? The fans certainly hope so.

According to TV Zone UK, Lingo could be set for a third series after a very successful run of series 2, which came to an end on ITV on Friday (4th February).

The hugely popular series gets three pairs of contestants to go head-to-head to work out words on the Lingo grid (think big Wordle).

As reported in the publication, the show is a huge hit with daytime viewers, regularly pulling in around 1.3million fans every day.

Despite finishing off series 2, ITV are keeping Lingo viewers happy with over 50 episodes from both series' over the next few weeks.

Sharing the news on Twitter, the official Lingo account said: “It's the last in the current run of #Lingo today (Friday 4th), from next week we'll be treating you to some lovely Lingo action from S1.

“You guys have made this so much fun - thanks for playing along and hanging with us. Here's to shouting at the telly!!”

While series 3 is yet to be confirmed by ITV bosses, it seems fans are very much keeping their fingers crossed for more episodes of the ‘addictive’ quiz show.

Replying to the series finale tweet, one viewer commented: “Hope they make another series. Maybe chuck in a few celebrity editions?”

Another wrote: “Are you filming another series?? We need more fun shouting at the TV” while a third replied: “Very addictive show, hope you will be making more.”

While host Adil Ray hasn’t confirmed any exciting news either, he did poke fun at the similarities beloved web game Wordle has with the daytime quiz show.

Back in January, Adil retweeted one of the millions of Wordle scores found scattered across Twitter every day, and joked: “Hey peeps, if you’re going to play a game that looks like ours, works like ours, smells like ours and basically is OURS it’s only right you give us a plug.”
