It was somewhat more subdued than in previous years, and that fact that it was even happening might have passed you by completely, but the Golden Globes ceremony has just taken place in the US.

This year's event was stripped right back, following controversy over the diversity of its membership. The event took place without any big stars in attendance, meaning that there was no red carpet, no host making jokes, and none of it was televised.

Instead, the results were simply announced on the Golden Globes website and on social media on Sunday.

The results, which seem to have largely been ignored by celebrities and studios, nonetheless saw big wins for West Side Story and The Power of the Dog.

Meanwhile, British winners included Kate Winslet, who won best actress in a limited series for her amazing performance in Mare of Easttown, while Andrew Garfield won best actor in a musical or comedy for Tick Tick... Boom!

The amazing third season of Succession also picked up three awards,

Elsewhere in the ceremony, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez became the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe, for her portrayal of Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista in the FX series Pose, which concluded last year following its third and final series.

Following her win, Michaela said on Instagram: “OMG OMGGG!!!! @goldenglobes Wow!

Wow! You talking about sickening birthday present! Thank you! This is the door that is going to open the door for many more young talented individuals. They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would WITH LOVE. LOVE WINS. She added: “To the nominees we are Queens. I’m so happy to share space with you! Each and every last one of you women are phenomenal.”
