The award-winning American sitcom is returning after 19 years, and it's coming soon!

The phrase “good things come to those who wait” is particularly true for Frasier fans, as the long-awaited reboot is on its way.

Soon, fans can enjoy new episodes featuring some of the original actors as their beloved characters.

Here is everything we know so far about the reboot.

When will the Frasier reboot be released?

It has been confirmed that the new series will land in the US and Canada on 12th October with a two-episode premiere, and will then be available to the rest of the world the following day. New instalments will then air every Thursday.

The date was announced via a video, which features a new version of the classic theme song, Tossed Salads & Scrambled Eggs, and is captioned: “Frasier has re-entered the building! No more callers, all-new hang-ups.”

How can I watch the Frasier reboot?

The comedy was originally broadcast on NBC in the US and Channel 4 in the UK, but the reboot will air on Paramount Plus.

How many episodes are there?

The new season will be made up of 10 episodes.

Who will star in the Frasier reboot?

Kelsey Grammer has confirmed that he will be returning as Frasier Crane.

In July 2022, the 68-year-old told Deadline they were “in the final stages of the final script for the first episode”. He revealed: “I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I cried, so I’m happy.”

Both Bebe Neuwirth, who played Crane’s ex-wife Lilith, and Peri Gilpin, who played his radio producer Roz Doyle, will also return in some capacity.

The reboot will feature new actors, such as Tenet’s Jack Cutmore-Scott, who will play Frasier’s son Freddy, and The Boys’ Jess Salgueiro, who will play Freddy’s roommate Eve.

Only Fools and Horses legend Nicholas Lyndhurst will star as Alan, Frasier’s friend from college, and Castle’s Toks Olagundoye will play his colleague Olivia.

The new series will not, however, feature David Hyde Pierce, who was iconic as Frasier’s brother Niles in the original series, or the late John Mahoney, who played their dad, Martin. However, the pilot episode will pay a special tribute to Mahoney’s character.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! A trailer for the new season of the hit sitcom landed in September, and featured Grammer, Lindhurst, Cutmore-Scott and more.

What is Frasier about?

In 1984, Kelsey Grammer was introduced as Frasier Crane in the hit series Cheers. At first, his purpose was to drive a wedge between Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) and Sam Malone (Ted Danson), but fans despised him for doing this.

Grammer even received hate mail from viewers, pleading him not to break up the couple.

Crane got as far as nearly marrying Chambers before she left him at the altar. After this, viewers frequently saw Crane drinking in the bar and he quickly became a fan favourite.

When Cheers concluded in 1993, writers David Angell, Peter Casey, and David Lee introduced Frasier, a spin-off series that would carry on from where Cheers left off and follow Crane, who was looking for a fresh start after his divorce.

He left his psychiatrist job in Boston and moved to his hometown of Seattle, where he became a radio host and reconnected with his family.

Check out our list of the show's most iconic moments, such as when Frasier was wounded and when he tried to record a radio drama without any preparation.

What will the reboot be about?

The new series will follow Frasier in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and, as the synopsis says, “an old dream or two to finally fulfil. Frasier has re-entered the building!”

The first episode of the new series, written by Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), will be called The Good Father. Fans believe this could be a nod to John Mahoney, who died in 2018.

Why was Frasier cancelled?

Frasier began in 1993 and ended in 2004 after 11 series.

NBC believed it would be too expensive for the show to continue as each episode reportedly cost around $5.2 million to produce, and $1.6 million of this was given straight to Grammer.

The actor offered to take a pay cut, but the broadcasting company still cancelled the sitcom because the ratings were slipping.

In the 1990s, Frasier was immensely-popular and won 37 Emmys, including five consecutive wins for Best Comedy Series.

It held the Guinness World Record for being the programme with the most Emmys, but has since been overtaken by Game Of Thrones, with 59 wins, and Saturday Night Live, with 82 wins.

Frasier will air on Paramount+.
