Indiana Jones 5, or The Dial of Destiny, will be hitting the big screen earlier than originally planned.

According to film expert Tom Linay, the UK and Ireland will be treated to the next Indiana Jones adventure, starring Harrison Ford, two days earlier than audiences in the US, meaning audiences this side of the pond can enjoy The Dial of Destiny on 28th June.

The exciting Indiana Jones news comes just after executive producer Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the lengthy runtime for the franchise’s latest instalment

Speaking to Collider at the recent Star Wars Celebration event in London, Kathleen told the outlet that the runtime of the film “seems to be a hot topic”.

She revealed that the movie is “around 2 hours 22 (or) 23 minutes”, which will make The Dial of Destiny the longest film of the franchise, with 1989's Last Crusade being the second longest at 2 hours at 8 minutes.

Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, added: "I will say the early movies were shorter, they were under 2 [hours] 15 [minutes], and we talked about that quite a bit. So, now I see why maybe they're interested in this.

"But as you know with runtime it's all about how you feel, right? So if you're sitting in a movie and it feels long, you're like, 'Uh…’ We're not dealing with a long movie."

Kennedy also said that cinemagoers are receptive to "long-form storytelling" on streaming, which is carrying over into movies.

Indiana Jones fans may be happy with the news as the upcoming film comes 15 years after the last film which was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Indiana Jones 5 will feature Phoebe Waller-Bridge alongside Harrison Ford, and has been confirmed as the last time Ford will play his iconic and loved role of Indiana

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will land in cinemas on 28th June in the UK and Ireland.
