Matt Lucas sends well wishes to Great British Bake Off replacement Alison Hammond

There's a changing of the guard in the iconic tent.

Recently, it was announced that former Big Brother star and TV presenter Alison Hammond, will be joining Channel 4's hugely popular the Great British Bake Off as it's new co-host.

This news comes after previous host Matt Lucas announced his departure from the show in December 2022, citing difficulties in balancing his work on the show with his other commitments. In his social media post, the Fantasy Football League presenter thanked everyone involved with the show and expressed his excitement for the next season, now that he'll be able to watch without knowing who won in advance.

After much speculation, it was finally revealed that Hammond will be stepping into the Shooting Stars stars shoes alongside Noel Fielding, as well as judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. Hammond shared the news on Instagram with a cute clip featuring a cake version of the set and an excited statement expressing her eagerness to meet the bakers and get started.

Upon hearing the news of his replacement, Lucas took to Twitter to congratulate Hammond, writing "Dear Alison, many congratulations! You were born to do it. You will be brilliant! Xx".

Hammond also expressed her honour and excitement in joining the show, which she previously appeared on in it's celebrity variant back in 2020, stating "It’s a huge honour to be back in the tent and I can’t wait to get started."
