It's (almost) the most wonderful time of the year!

Despite it only being mid-November, Christmas came early on The Graham Norton Radio Show this weekend as Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Macy Gray popped into the studio to tell us about her new Christmas record.

Released this Friday, November 18th, and entitled Christmas With You, the record includes a cover of the song 'Blue Christmas', a 1957 hit for Elvis Presley. You can hear Macy's version below.

'It was my bass players idea to do that song," says the Ohio born singer. "I've probably heard that song a million times, but I never thought about singing it until he suggested the idea in the group text. So we just went in the studio and knocked it out - in LA, which is the least Christmasy place on earth! I think it was the fastest song I've ever done. I'm really happy with it. It's probably my favourite one on on the record."

After that Macy has a new album of original songs on the way, her eleventh, entitled The Reset and due on Valentines Day 2023.

"It's a great album," she laughs. "It's it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. And I would say that even if it wasn't my album, you know!"

She continues, "The upside of the whole pandemic thing, was that because everybody was so emotional and into their feelings and learning about themselves and stuff, it was a perfect time to create. If you happened to be an artist, you had all this inspiration. And everybody was emoting and so it was perfect time to go in the studio and make a record. And so it came out really great!"

Listen to The Graham Norton Radio Show every Saturday AND Sunday from 9:30 am on Virgin Radio or catch up on-demand here.
