Steph McGovern joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky this morning to talk all about her Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch and how it’s given her a “dream life.”

Originally launching in 2020 under the name The Steph Show, Steph’s Packed Lunch has gone from strength to strength after bagging nominations at the BAFTAs, TRIC Awards and RTS Awards this year.

Speaking about the show, the host said: “I knew it was going to be a big hurdle to get over but then, this year, we started getting the recognition and getting nominated for these awards that all of sudden made it all worthwhile, even though that beginning was a bit bumpy.”

She added later: “We’re punching up there with the big lads and that just feels great.”

When quizzed on the future of the show, Steph also revealed some pretty big news.

She said: “It’s been going for a while, it started in my house to begin with about two and a half years ago. So we’ve done something like 350 episodes, which I just can’t believe, and we’ve just been told we’re going to be recommissioned until at least the end of next year.”

So we can expect to see Steph on our screens for a bit longer!

For the broadcaster, her show is about so much more than making people laugh- it’s about informing people and representing all communities.

She explained: “The whole vibe of my show is we want to make people feel that anyone could watch. We’re kind of like a dysfunctional family in a way on the show but we're all there to try and make everyone feel included and help people, as well as having a laugh. We always do everything with a bit of comedy in it.”

When asked if she had any highlight episodes from over the past two and half years, Steph said she loved it when they did things live that you wouldn’t normally see elsewhere.

She added: “I’ve done things like, I had a smear test live on the show just to try and show people the realities of that. The stuff I love then is when we can do stuff that other people need to do to show them that maybe it’s not as bad and there are ways to help them around it.”

Not only is the show a whole lot of fun to make, but Steph says Packed Lunch has allowed her to live the life she’s always wanted.

She explained to Chris: “I've got a good work-life balance because I've got my little girl and having a show during the day means I can do what I love doing and yet be able to see her and drop her off at nursery and pick her up afterwards and all that.

“I mean I'm literally living my dream life at the minute, so I want to do it for as long as anyone will let me.”

Steph's Packed Lunch airs on Channel 4 weekday afternoons from 12:30-14:10.
