Rising singer-songwriter Isaac Stuart joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about his new single and shows, and to play an incredible live set.

Isaac’s forthcoming single, Cut Me Down, will be released on Friday 11th February. It was co-written and produced by Jonathan Quarmby, who has worked with Ed Sheeran and James Arthur. The artist will then be taking on a three-date mini UK tour next month. He said: “Last time I was on [The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky], I was talking about my headline shows - well, headline show, singular - and it sold out in half-an-hour, so we had to add an extra date.

“So, I had two sold-out shows last year. And I thought, because I’m coming back on, I should probably get some more shows, so that you can try and sell them out as well!”

He added: “I’m playing in Oxford, in Manchester and in London.”

During his time at Virgin Radio this morning (January 14th), Isaac played an amazing live session, supported on backing vocals by Kate Westall and Meg-Ella Brookes. His set included a beautiful take on the 1972 King Harvest song Dancing in the Moonlight, which was given a new lease of life by Eastbourne band Toploader in the 90s.

When Chris asked Isaac if he could offer an insight into how he feels when he is playing live, the musician replied: “Sometimes you really feel it, and you get into a sort of groove and you really get into it and you’re very present.” He then joked: “Other times, you’re just trying to play the right notes!”

Isaac also took the opportunity to perform a brand new song, We Don’t Wanna Go Home, which had never previously been heard publicly, and he played his new single, Cut Me Down, live on the radio for the first time. His session also featured Saved, which was the musician’s last single, and ended up featuring on Love Island.

When talking about Love Island, the artist told Chris: “The music is amazing. They really support new artists. All I did was email the music supervisor and said, ‘What do you think?’

“Then I was played [on Love Island], and then it was a bit of a crazy year. I played The Palladium, I supported Snow Patrol, which was madness.”

With Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody having declared that the singer-songwriter has the “voice of an angel” and “writes songs that will fill Wembley Stadium one day,” Chris asked Isaac whether he was still working at a piano shop, as he was the last time he visited Virgin Radio in 2021. “I am indeed,” he confirmed. “Less and less, because I’m getting to do lots of exciting things. But I do still do it when I need to,” he added.

Ahead of the release of his new single, Isaac said: “Everything feels like it’s going really well. I’m grateful. I’m slowly but surely getting there. I’m just excited to play some shows and write more songs.”
