The coolest of cricketers joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky earlier to talk about being part of talkSPORT 2’s exclusive coverage of England’s tour of India - and missing his favourite curry.

He told Chris about broadcasting from the UK: “Well I’d much prefer to be in India because I love that country. When I toured there with England, it's great.

"Cricket there is their biggest passion of all, the people are so knowledge about the game but unfortunately because of these times we're living in we're doing it from London. But it's a 3:45am start. Dear me!

“I live an hour and 15 away by car, so straight after the Drivetime show tonight, a nice bit of grub, it's up at 2am and off I go.

“I can't wait. It’s going to be a great series because there's a place up for grabs in the World Test Final next June. New Zealand are already in there and they take on either England, India or Australia.”

On broadcasting during the pandemic, he said: “I think it's going to be difficult. It's going to be a test for me. I've never done it off the TV before but I'll try and give it its best shot and I’ll make out I’m there, I have to get myself in the moment.

“I’ll be thinking I’m in Chennai just about to have my chicken tikka jalfrezi at lunchtime and I'll try and get into the mood of it, but it will be difficult. Because of social distancing we’re sat about four metres apart, each one of us behind the desk.

“But it's going to be great. We're going to have lots of listeners, it's a fantastic sport especially on radio and it's two great teams - Australia and England.”

talkSPORT 2's exclusive live coverage begins at 3:45am tomorrow with play at 4am.
