Damian Lewis on the Chris Evans Breakfast show, and as his character Billions

Damian Lewis was able to clear up some confusion for Chris Evans when he appeared at the Virgin Radio studios to talk about his debut album Mission Creep.

Interviewed on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch on Wednesday, 6th September, the Homeland and Band of Brothers actor took a break from talking about his new music in order to explain his return to the hit show Billions to the veteran radio host.

“[Last night] I tuned into the latest episode of Billions,” Chris told the 52-year-old actor. “I know you’re back in it,” he continued, but then explained his confusion when he found Damian’s character Bobby didn’t turn up in the episode he watched.

“Has somebody been yanking my chain, or are you back in it?” Chris questioned.

“Bobby Axelrod is back in it,” Damian responded, before clarifying: “But he’s in and out of it… He’s in and out of it episode by episode, I think he showed up in the first two.

“He’ll be back - he’s coming,” he then guaranteed.

Series seven of Billions is the final series of the Showtime series. It began airing in August 2023 and will come to an end in late October.

Damian’s billionaire character Bobby 'Axe' Axelrod was not in season six of the programme, but has made a return for season seven.

The London-born actor’s decision not to take part in season six of the show stemmed from his desire to spend more time with his family after the death of his wife Helen McCrory from breast cancer in April 2021.

Announcing his departure from the show on Twitter (now X) in October 2021, he wrote that it had been “a pleasure and a privilege to play Axe for 5 seasons” and that he would “miss the Billions family.”

He revealed he’d be returning to the show in February 2023 during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Billions season seven is currently airing on Sky Atlantic and can also be streamed via NOW TV.
