Eric Clapton has announced two special concerts in honour of the memory of the late Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall.

Set to take place on 22 and 23 May 2023, the epic list of artists due to appear for the spectacular include Clapton, Johnny Depp and Sir Rod Stewart, plus Doyle Bramhall, Gary Clark Jr, Billy Gibbons, Imelda May, John McLaughlin, Robert Randolph, Olivia Safe, Joss Stone, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. Musicians appearing from the Jeff Beck Band include Rhonda Smith, Anika Nilles and Robert Stevenson. More will be announced soon.

Organised by Beck's widow Sandra Cash and Clapton, surplus income from the concerts will be donated to the Folly Wildlife Rescue based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Shortly before his passing, Beck had finished touring his latest album 18, which he recorded with Depp who he first met in 2016. The pair began recording the album in 2019 while Depp was also playing with Alice Cooper's supergroup Hollywood Vampires.

The hard rock, jazz, opera and blues genius won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, with The Yardbirds in 1992 and as a solo artist in 2009.

Over six decades, Beck played guitar with vocalists including Luciano Pavarotti, Macy Gray, Chrissie Hynde, Joss Stone, Imelda May and Cyndi Lauper.

The legendary rock guitarist died in January, aged 78, after contracting bacterial meningitis.
