Sir Elton John has smashed ticket sale records for his farewell tour.

His Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour has become the highest-grossing tour ever.

It originally started in September 2018 and Sir Elton has already grossed $817.9 million across 278 shows so far.

These statistics make it the first tour to cross the $800 million threshold.

He has taken over from Ed Sheeran's record set in 2019.

Ed claimed the top spot when his Divide tour earned $776.4 million.

He overtook U2 to claim the top spot.

They had set the record with their The 360 Tour', which grossed $736.4 million.

Sir Elton earned $268.2 million over 116 shows in the first three North American tours.

He played stadium shows from July-November last year and clocked up $222.1 million in just 33 gigs.

When it comes to ticket numbers, Ed Sheeran and U2 outsold Elton, who sold 5.3 million.

Ed sold a whopping 8.9 million tickets.

Elton has grossed $1.863 billion and sold 19.9 million tickets for over 1,573 shows.

That's quite the career!

He has now had the highest career gross and attendance for a solo artist, overtaking Bruce Springsteen and Madonna.
