Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has announced he is starting a new band and teases their first song.

Kelly has joined forces with Texan musicians Patricia Lynn and Dwight A. Baker (also known as The Wind and The Wave) to form Far From Saints.

The group, who met during the Stereophonics’ recent UK tour, have been dropping teasers on social media this week, including a clip of Kelly playing a snippet of a song from their currently untitled debut album.

He said the band was “very happy” with the new record and joked that “the record company would probably give me a b****cking if I played this”, but still gave fans a sneaky preview anyway.

The debut song, Let’s Turn This Back Around, will be released on 20th January but a release date for the album has not yet been announced.

In the video, which you can watch here, Kelly also added Far From Saints will be doing “some shows at some point” and wrapped up by telling fans “love you long time”.

Fans of the singer took to the comments to share their thoughts about the new song, with some comparing it to Fleetwood Mac.

One fan wrote: “I’m in! Sounds great…female vocals Stevie Nicks-esque! I’ll be having my ears out for this, nice one Kelly!”

Another said: “Wow very Fleetwood Mac love it.”

A third commented: “That sounds wonderful, doesn’t the female vocalist sound like Stevie Nicks.”

A lot of fans also voiced their concerns that this could mean the end of the Phonics. But fear not, because while Kelly will be taking some away from the band to pursue this new project, he will still remain the frontman.

The Welsh band joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky last year to play a live set of some of their favourite songs, which you can watch here.
