Country music legend Dolly Parton has delighted TikTok users by officially signing up for the social platform.

The singer, who celebrates her 77th birthday next month, only joined on Sunday (4th December) but has wasted no time in uploading content and gaining followers.

So far, she has shared six videos and, as of midday (UK time), on Monday 5th December, has already amassed over 401,000 followers. Not bad in less than 24 hours.

Her first video was a montage of clips sound-tracked by her iconic banger, 9 To 5, with the words: “Hi TikTok! It’s Dolly.” She captioned the clip: “I have arrived!”

The singer then added five more vids, including a short clip of her introducing herself to Tiktok, in which she tells people to “hit that follow button and stay tuned for more.” She captioned the clip: “Now, let’s have some fun! #DollyTok #heyitsdolly”

The videos have been watched millions of times already, and have received over a million Likes.

Dolly announced her TikTok arrival on another social platform, Twitter. “Better late than never 😉” she wrote.

The official TikTok Twitter account also wrote: “Welcome to TikTok, @DollyParton. 🦋 #DollyTok”

And if you are worried that Dolly Parton’s introduction to TikTok will slow down her productivity when it comes to making music, then fear not, because she is planning to cover some of the most iconic rock songs ever recorded on next year’s album, Rockstar.

The new record will feature both original songs and covers of songs such as Purple Rain by Prince, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, and 'Freebird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The artist recently received a philanthropy award for her children’s book programme, and was awarded a cool $100million by Jeff Bezos to put towards charitable causes.
