There’s some fresh music heading to Virgin Radio this week.

We love a classic tune here on Virgin Radio but there’s nothing like listening to a brand new track that quickly becomes a new favourite, and we’ve got a new selection making its way onto our airwaves.

Here are the new songs making it onto the Virgin Radio playlists this week.

Lewis Capaldi - Forget Me

In true Lewis Capaldi fashion, the Scottish singer-songwriter helped put together his own release statement for the first single in two years - Forget Me.

In the statement, Lewis describes himself as a ‘chubby popstar and toilet humour enthusiast’ while also plainly labelling what the new song is about.

He explains: “Let’s just be honest here, lyrically it covers a lot of the same ground as before. I meet a lady, lady leaves me, I whine about it in a pop song. Textbook.”

The Before You Go singer continued: “It’s a wee bit more upbeat than my previous numbers, mostly because after touring the world, I noticed that my lesser known slower tracks were making some of the crowds look like they were about to fall asleep out of sheer boredom.

“However, this new one is sad AND fast, much like my love making. Not to worry, I’ve still got plenty of depressing ballads up my sleeve. More on that another time…”

In slightly more detail, Lewis later added that the song was focused on watching his ex and her “post-me life play out on Instagram” and he was “fearful she might’ve forgotten about me.”

Nicky Youre - Sunroof

Rising indie pop artist Nicky Youre’s global hit Sunroof is showing no signs of slowing down.

The single has become a viral sensation garnering over 90 million streams worldwide across all platforms.

The track has catapulted its way up to being a Top 10-used song on TikTok, generating over 5.5 million creations on the platform, and has been used by celebrities and influencers including Ed Sheeran and Jessica Chastain.

Nicky Youre is a 22 year old indie pop artist from Orange County, California, and first became interested in music through his older brother who played guitar growing up, filling the background of his childhood with Beatles songs and classic rock.

Nicky first released music back in 2020 with his debut single Sex and Lemonade, released in 2020, and made the choice to pursue music further, and we’re really glad he did!

Lightning Seeds - Emily Smiles

Ian Broudie is back with more new music following 13 years away with Emily Smiles.

The track is the third song to be taken from the new album, See You In The Stars, which is out in October.

Emily Smiles was co-written with Specials’ Terry Hall, and is about “miscommunication and lives being changed by small moments and random events” Ian said in a statement.

“It’s about desperation and the distances between us being unlocked with the magic inside a smile.”

Not only are Lightning Seeds back on the road to the charts, they’re also back on the road touring too - with a 14 date tour scheduled later this year, starting in 27th October in Cambridge, and finishing up on 26th November in Sheffield.

Back in June, Ian spent some time on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, and said he was a bit anxious to head back into music.

He explained: “I've been a bit nervous about doing new songs because I think there's a certain positivity in Lightning Seeds songs that sometimes I can write and sometimes I can't. It's really nice for them now to be actually playing on a record.”

Rosa Linn - Snap

Armenian Eurovision hopeful Rosa Linn has a global hit on her hands with new single Snap.

The track took on a life of its own after being widely praised during its Eurovision outing, and has landed on charts worldwide, and gained over 1.6 billion views on TikTok.

Rosa Linn is on her way to becoming Armenia’s first global music artist and first female music producer.

Rosa explained in a statement: “[In Armenia] you’re always on your own: getting gigs, finding the audience...with no opportunities and sponsors because there’s no infrastructure and no music industry. I was afraid I wouldn’t get a shot. But I didn’t give up on my dream.”

In 2021 she released her first single, King, alongside multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Kiiara, and used that momentum to push her through Eurovision.
