South Facing festival: Richard Ashcroft and more to play at Crystal Palace Bowl concerts

Legendary singer-songwriter Richard Ashcroft is set to wow the crowds at South Facing Festival this weekend. The frontman is taking to the stage for the Crystal Palace music extravaganza which is back this weekend for its second edition.

Playing songs from The Verve and his mind-blowing back catalogue, the two-time Ivor Novello winner is headlining the hub of live music which runs until 7th August at the Crystal Palace Bowl with Ride, Bdrmm and Tess Parks also performing on Saturday, as well as DJ Steve Lamacq and music guru Alan McGee.

Ashcroft's Urban Hymns is one of the most iconic albums of the era and is the UK’s 18th biggest selling album of all-time, with songs including The Drugs Don’t Work, Bittersweet Symphony, Lucky Man and Sonnet.

The open-air concerts are hosted in the 'Bowl' and boast back-to-back concerts by some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Located within Crystal Palace Park, tonight (August 5) will see Bombay Bicycle Club headlining, with Jordan Rakei and Nilüfer Yanya making a musical appearance.

BRIT Award winner Becky Hill is flying the flag for the closing night on 7th August, with support from singer-songwriter Sinéad Harnett.

Following on from the Crystal Palace musical mega-mix is a special 'South Facing Presents' show taking place at Troxy in Limehouse, east London on August 13 with LA jazz master Kamasi Washington and Ezra Collective headlining. Supporting them are Muva of Earth, DJ LAANI and DJ Haseeb Iqbal.

Doors open tonight at 6pm and tomorrow at 5.30pm. Last entry is 9pm and the event is due to finish at 10.30pm at the Crystal Palace Bowl in Crystal Palace Park, London SE19 2BA.
