Ahead of the release of their hotly-anticipated album, Sports Team have dropped a new single, called The Drop.

The song offers a taste of their second studio LP, Gulp!, which is due to land in September.

Regarding the brand new tune, the London-based group said: “It’s questioning a constant striving for achievement, never really enjoying the moments and ‘Katie dying waiting for the right time to retire’. Today the internet told me they’ve found ‘pits on the moon where humans could comfortably live and work’, brilliant.”

With the new single comes a video clip, helmed by director, filmmaker and architect A.T. Mann. Have a listen to The Drop, and a look at the new video, here:

The band’s new album was due for release in July, but has been put back until September 23rd. When they joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky last month, Sports Team spoke about their new music, telling Chris: “There's more rocket fuel. This is exactly what we aimed for and I hope we delivered."

They added: "There's maybe less optimism in the lyrics but, you know, we try to present it in a sunny way. It's quite dark and I think it's more about general themes than the last [album]. The last one was about something very specific.

"It's sort of about the human experience."

Sports Team also played an epic live session from the top of the tower when they visited Virgin Radio.
