Peter Hook and the Manchester Camerata are coming back for two new concerts this October. The bassist says that The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated shows will bring the band’s music “to a whole different place, emotionally and aurally.”

Having previously collaborated for three concerts in 2019, Hook and the chamber orchestra are teaming up again for a performance in Manchester, and one in London this autumn.

The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated will visit the O2 Apollo Manchester on 14th October, and will then head to the London Palladium on 15th October. Peter Hook took to Twitter to announce the shows, which were originally due to take place last year.

Speaking about these upcoming performances, the former Joy Division and New Order bassist said in a statement: “Covid has given these events strange timings, but after touring and playing Joy Division normally shall we say, I am looking forward to this new working more than ever.”

Explaining what audiences can expect, Hook’s statement continued: “It takes JD’s music to a whole different place, emotionally and aurally. It is difficult to transcribe but I love the challenge, and it brings a freshness to the whole concept.”

Referring back to previous shows with the Manchester Camerata, and looking ahead, the bassist added: “After those two amazing concerts at The Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House, I did wonder how we could possibly surpass it. Playing those gigs did give me a great insight in how to improve the impact for future shows. Both venues are very historic. The Palladium is as famous as the RAH and Sydney, another great feather in our cap, and The Apollo has played a huge part of my musical career, so they seemed a great fit. Both great venues for a great show!”

If you fancy getting along to one of these The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated concerts, then the good news is that tickets are on sale right now. You can grab yours from Ticketmaster. All tickets from the original shows remain valid.
