Check out Diana Ross and Tame Impala’s new collaborative single

Iconic diva Diana Ross, Aussie indie-psych outfit Tame Impala and the Minions might seem like an unlikely combo, but the two musical acts have indeed teamed up to create a song for the latest film starring the fictional yellow creatures.

Rumours of the coming together of Diana Ross and Tame Impala were abound earlier this month, when mysterious posters started to appear around London. The collaboration was soon officially confirmed, and now the belting new tune, Turn Up The Sunshine, has been shared.

It is the first slice from the upcoming soundtrack to the new film, Minions: The Rise Of Gru. The soundtrack will also feature the likes of St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Caroline Polachek, and Thundercat, as well as The Minions themselves, who will be performing a version of Simon & Garfunkel’s Cecilia!

The full, 19-song soundtrack will land on July 1st - the same day that the movie is released.

Turn Up The Sunshine was co-written by Kevin Parker from Tame Impala, Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, singer Sam Dew and Swedish producer Patrik Berger.

As well as having a song on the soundtrack of what will undoubtedly be one of the summer’s biggest family movies, Diana Ross is also set to play the coveted ‘legends’ slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. 

The Supremes singer follows in the footsteps of the likes of Johnny Cash, Kylie Minogue, and Brian Wilson in playing the prestigious Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid Stage. We can expect hit after hit, such as I'm Coming Out and Upside Down, at what will be the festival’s 50th anniversary. 

Meanwhile, Tame Impala will also be making a festival appearance in the UK this summer as well, at London’s All Points East on August 25th.
