British music legends Squeeze are set to embark on their first major UK tour in over three years in October and November, and they are taking one of Britain’s best poets with them!

As well as seeing Squeeze delve into their impressive array of hits and rare gems from their extensive back-catalogue, fans will also be able to check out the anarchic punk poetry of Dr John Cooper Clarke. The acclaimed poet will supply the support as a very special guest for Squeeze on every date of the tour, except for London.

New-wave band Squeeze first formed almost half-a-century ago, back in 1973, shortly after Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had begun their songwriting partnership. After their recording debut in 1977, they delivered a string of hits, including classics such as Cool For Cats, Up The Junction and Take Me I’m Yours.

Following solo careers, the Ivor Novello Award-winning duo reunited in 2007 to relaunch Squeeze, and have been touring, writing and recording together ever since.

Fans who arrive at venues in time to see Dr John Cooper Clarke will be treated to an aural journey, with poems old and new and his usual musings, off the wall chat, riffs, gags and wicked humour.

And anyone who heads along to any of the dates on the tour can also carry out a kind act, as the band are once again supporting The Trussell Trust, which provides emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, while also campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the future.

Squeeze aim to help to raise food, funds and awareness of the 1,200 food bank centres across the UK, and therefore attendees of the tour are asked to bring along food donations which can be placed in collection points at all of the venues each night. Here is a link to information on the items that are requested.
