There is a Red Hot Chili Peppers videogame. Sign us up.
In an unusual case of art imitating art, the videogame that appears in the music video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers 1999 hit ‘Californication’ – the title track of the groups seventh album - has been turned into an actual videogame!
The man responsible is one Miquel Camps Orteza, a freelance game developer from Spain.
“I wanted to play that game so bad!,” said Miquel. “It's 2022 and I haven't seen anyone [make] the game, so I challenged myself to create it. I have selected some epic moments from the video and turned into 7 levels, each one with different game mechanics. I hope you like this game."Miquel's game is available to download on both Windows PC and mac0S. It doesn't include any music – because copyright, yo - but there are buttons in the game with YouTube links that play the official song and covers. You can download the game yourself, here.
In actual Red Hot Chili Peppers news, the LA band’s upcoming album, Unlimited Love – their first to feature guitarist John Frusciante since 2006 – is due on April 1st.
The single ‘Black Summer’ is out now.
