It wouldn't be a true BRIT Awards experience without a bit of the Gallaghers, and tonight, Liam will make his big return to the BRITs stage.
The rockstar sat down with Chris Evans on The Breakfast Show with Sky on Monday (7th February), and while he did divulge some details on his new single and upcoming Knebworth gig, Chris also managed to get some BRIT insight too.
Liam, who has just released new single Everything’s Electric, will be performing at tonight’s BRITs. He admitted he ‘doesn’t keep count’ of the amount of prizes he and brother Noel have picked up over the years as Oasis, but Liam is excited to return to the award show.
He said: “I'm buzzing at getting there man, that's where I belong, prime time TV."
On his prep for the big night, Liam revealed: “We went down yesterday and did a bit of rehearsing. We're back down there for another sound check and I'll just be chilling, just taking it easy, having a little drink after.
“I'll leave it up to the young pups now to cause a bit of carnage. I've done my time.”
Liam and brother Noel have famously caused somewhat of a scene at the BRIT Awards they’ve attended in the past (just check out our 5 most memorable moments!) and when asked about remembering anything from their very first BRITs in 1995, the Mancunian seemed to recall the tension between them and their Britpop rivals Blur.
“I remember hiding under the table” Liam added. “It was the Blur era and all that type of thing. Bits I remember like stealing their award because I think they won everything that year. We didn't get a look in… they were the good old days.”
The BRIT Awards were notoriously messy back in the day, and when pressed about the longest he’s stayed out after a BRITs ceremony, Liam simply replied: “I could do two nights easy, I mean I'm not going to say three or four, that's just being greedy and showing off but two's good enough.”
Meanwhile, Liam’s brand new single - Everything’s Electric - is out now, and if you recognise the drums in the track, there’s a good reason.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl partnered up with Liam for the new song after years of speculation of a collaboration, and Liam finally revealed all.
When asked how it came to be, he explained: “Everyone seems to think we're in a studio playing tiddlywinks together. He was in LA and I was over here so we didn't sort of meet in the studio writing tunes, we did it from across the pond.
“I finished the album in November, end of November, all the songs and I got a phone call saying ‘they've got a tune... will I give a listen?’.
So I said 'go on then'. We're back in the studio recording it just like that, we were meant to do something on the last album but it never happened.
It’s not the first time Liam and Dave have jammed together. The pair met years ago when Foo Fighters played with Oasis on tour.
Liam’s new single Everything’s Electric is out now, while upcoming album C’mon You Know is out Friday May 27th.
The BRIT Awards 2022 with Mastercard will take place tonight (Tuesday 8th February) at The O2 arena in London, and exclusively broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub.
