The legendary band has announced they will be streaming a 180-degree virtual reality concert after the Super Bowl on Sunday.
For UK viewers, the concert will start at 4am, and for those in the US, it will take place straight after the Superbowl, which will see the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals at 11pm E.T.
To access the free event, fans can either use the VR app Horizon Venues with the Meta Quest headsets or Facebook live.
The band has also revealed this virtual reality concert will have a setlist of rarely played tracks, including a song they have never performed before.
Mark Romanek, who directed Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ and Beyonce’s ‘Sand Castles’, will oversee the event, making sure the concert looks the best it possibly can.
Viewers who have the Horizon Venues app will have some additional features to use at the virtual event, such as creating their own avatars, customising their outfits, and even interacting with other fans in the ‘lobby’ and playing games with them.
Speaking in a statement about the event, frontman Dave Grohl said: “Foo Fighters love a challenge — from playing the biggest stages in the world to the tiniest clubs to making movies and miniseries. We’ve pretty much done it all.
“But we’ve never collaborated with Mark Romanek on a conceptual set of songs (including one being played live for the first time ever) for a worldwide audience, where everyone has the best seats in the house thanks to the most badass VR tech…until now. Join us when we cross that one off the FF bucket list!”
It is expected the concert will also feature some songs from The Foo Fighter’s latest release, ‘Medicine At Midnight’, which came out on the weekend (5 February).
Later this year, the band is also releasing their brand-new comedy-horror film, Studio 666, on 25 February.
The Foo Fighters live VR concerts will be available for streaming on Facebook and Instagram and via Horizon Venues at 4am on 13 February.
