The singer has released a brand-new track ‘Kick Ass’, and it features a spoken-word introduction by an icon of British TV.

It is, of course, none other than John Cleese.

As the song begins, we can hear John start his monologue.

He says: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth, then he created the waters and the land, and then he created man.”

He goes on: “But man degenerated and descended into the black hole of making bad music…there was no rock music.”

The single appears on Bryan’s upcoming album, So Happy It Hurt, which was co-written by Robert John “Mutt” Lange.

Lange has previously worked with Adams on multiple projects, such as 1991's Waking Up the Neighbours. He also co-wrote the Grammy award-winning song ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’.

Talking about Cleese’s part in the song, Bryan said: “Kick Ass begins with a John Cleese introductory sermon which sums up the song.

“There’s not enough rock and roll in the world…end of!

“More guitars, more drums, join hands… let’s rock”.

Kick Ass is the third single from the album to be released. In October, Adams launched the title track as a single, and last month another track titled On The Road was dropped.

This will be Adams’ 15th studio album, and speaking at a press release about the record, he said: “The pandemic and lockdown really brought home the truth that spontaneity can be taken away.

“Suddenly all touring stopped. No one could jump in the car and go. The title song ‘So Happy It Hurts’ is about freedom, autonomy, spontaneity and the thrill of the open road.

“The album of the same name touches on many of the ephemeral things in life that are really the secret to happiness and, most importantly, human connection”.

So Happy It Hurts is available for pre-order now and will be released on 11 March 2022.
