In an annual tradition reaching back to 2010, the team behind Record Store Day will be releasing an exciting set of vinyl exclusives this November.

Black Friday falls on November 26th this year, when over 100 exclusive records will arrive in independent record stores across the country. The releases are a combination of new music and reissues, with fun coloured vinyl and exclusive artwork aplenty.

Some of the highlights include a limited edition blue pressing of Lana Del Rey’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club, accompanied by a new alternative cover art piece, and The Shangri-Las Best of album as a limited edition “Clear with Black Swirl ‘Tailpipe Exhaust’” coloured record. There will also be anniversary editions of U2’s Gloria and Thundercat’s The Golden Age of the Apocalypse.

Record Store Day’s springtime and winter events have helped contribute to the massive worldwide growth in the vinyl music market. A once archaic musical format, vinyl has experienced a massive resurgence over the last few years, fueled by musical purists and hipsters alike.

For the first time since 1987 vinyl sales are expected to surpass CDs this year, encouraged in part by higher purchasing over the coronavirus lockdowns. Cassette tapes are also beginning to see a resurgence, with sales almost doubling next year. Record Store Day are jumping on to this trend too, with cassette tapes on offer from US artists Local Natives and JD McPherson.

Head over to Record Store Day’s website for a full list of the special releases coming to your local record stores across the UK this November.
