Good news, as Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed that over 99% of tents were taken home after the festival.

Emily shared a photo of near-empty fields at Glasto on social media, proudly stating that most attendees cleaned up after themelves.

In the past there has been much criticism levelled at campers who abandon their equipment at the end of the festival.

Emily wrote: “I’m really glad to be able to let you know that 99 per cent of all tents have been taken home."

She continued: "Thanks to all our amazing festival goers for taking part and for all their efforts to love the farm and leave no trace, we appreciate it so much.”

Glastonbury has been encouraging festivalgoers to "leave no trace" behind in the run up to the event.

Some 2,000 tonnes of waste are produced every year at the festival, and organisers are attempting to be more green.

Instead of flimsy pop-up tents, organisers encouraged people to invest in “sturdy camping equipment” which can be reused.

They advised: “Love the farm, leave no trace. If you are coming to Glastonbury 2024, please remember to only bring sturdy camping equipment that you can take home again and reuse. In 2023, 98 per cent of all tents were taken home. Let’s see if we can beat that this year.”

They also encouraged people to travel by train to reduce carbon emissions.

Single-use plastic bottles have been banned since 2019 too.
