Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks has confessed the reason why the legendary band won’t tour again.
The line-up of Fleetwood Mac consisted of vocalist Nicks, alongside Lindsey Buckingham, bassist John McVie, Mick Fleetwood and keyboardist and singer Christine McVie. They formed in 1967 with founding member Peter Green, and Christine joined in 1970, and Nicks following in 1974.
While members of Fleetwood Mac have come and gone, for Stevie, she can’t see the Rumours band without McVie, who sadly passed away aged 79 in 2022.

The Little Lies songwriter died after suffering from a stroke, and had previously been diagnosed with metastatic cancer.
Her death was a shock to bandmate and good friend Stevie, who has recently admitted the surviving members of Fleetwood couldn't face going up on stage without their celebrated keyboard player.
In a new chat with Mojo Magazine, Stevie was asked if there was any chance of getting the band to reunite on stage, and unfortunately for fans, it’s a definite no.
“Without Christine, no can do,” she confessed. “There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
Not only that, but things are still tricky between Nicks and her former partner Lindsey, who himself has been impacted by health issues. Lindsey left the band in 2018, with The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Neil Finn of Crowded House taking his place on tour.
“Even if I thought I could work with Lindsey again, he’s had some health problems, the Edge of Seventeen singer admitted. “It’s not for me to say, but I’m not sure if Lindsey could do the kind of touring that Fleetwood Mac does, where you go out for a year and half. It’s so demanding.”
McVie’s death hit Nicks incredibly hard, and she recalled the “stunningly strange” moment she learnt of her friend’s passing.
She added: “We got a call, and I was going to rent a plane and go see her, but her family said, ‘Don’t come, because she may not be here tomorrow.’ And the next day, she passed away.
“I wanted to go there and sit on her bed and sing to her – which definitely would have made her pass away faster. But I needed to be with her. And I didn’t get to do that. So that was very hard for me. I didn’t get to say goodbye.”
Stevie is currently preparing to return to the stage as a solo act this summer, and will perform at London’s BST Hyde Park alongside Brandi Carlile, Anna Calvi and Paris Paloma.
Speaking ahead of the show, Stevie Nicks says “Anything that draws me back to London ~ and therefore to England ~ fills my heart with joy. And to be able to visit and make music… is always a dream come true…”
