Elton John has revealed how he got fit for the final leg of his farewell tour.
The music icon kicked off the last leg of UK shows on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Liverpool last week and still has just under 50 shows left to play, including his headline set at Glastonbury.
It has been a long time in the making after delays due to the pandemic and some health setbacks for Sir Elton, including pneumonia and a hip replacement.
However, there is no rest for the wicked and the Your Song singer revealed he used his time off in lockdown to build a new fitness routine.
Speaking in The Sun, he said: “I get up, have breakfast and go for a walk in the pool. At my age that is the best thing I can do. I walk sideways and do about six miles a week.”
His last appearance onstage in the UK will be at Glastonbury Festival in June before he heads out to Sweden for his final date the following month.
Sir Elton has previously said he wanted to give up performing to spend more time with his husband David Furnish and their sons, Zachary and Elijah.
However, this doesn’t mean he won’t still be making music!
Earlier this month, it was reported Sir Elton would working with the one and only Dolly Parton, with new music expected to come out later this year. The musician is said to have told guests at his Elton John Aids Foundation Oscars viewing party, where he raised more than £7.5million for charity.
A source told the outlet: “Elton is a massive fan of Dolly - she is a gay icon, after all. He heard that she wanted to work with him and leapt at the chance. Elton loves collaborating and who better to do so with than a bona fide music legend?”
It is believed the pair have recorded a version of Elton’s 1974 single Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
