The singer will represent Great Britain at the contest in May.
After recently being announced as the UK's representative for Eurovision, Mae Muller has kicked off her campaign on a high note with her entry for the song contest soaring up the singles chart.
The track, titled 'I Wrote A Song', has debuted at number 30, making it the first UK Eurovision entry to enter the top 40 in its first week since boy group Blue’s 'I Can' in 2011, according to the Official Charts Company.
This achievement also marks Muller’s first top 40 entry as a solo artist and her highest chart position, having previously peaked at number 32 with her track 'Better Days' alongside Neiked and Polo G in 2021.
Co-written with Brit Award-nominated songwriter Lewis Thompson, who has worked with acts including David Guetta and Joel Corry, and Karen Poole, who has been behind hits by Kylie Minogue and Lily Allen, 'I Wrote A Song' features tongue-in-cheek lyrics about a cheating ex-boyfriend.
Muller, a 25-year-old singer from London, will perform the tune at the event in Liverpool in May.
She was chosen by BBC bosses and global management company TaP Music, which has represented artists such as Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding.
TaP was also behind selecting Sam Ryder as the UK entrant for the 2022 event, where he achieved second place behind Ukraine and changed the country's fortunes in the contest.
Muller described her selection for Eurovision as "honestly a dream" after it was announced last Thursday.
The Eurovision final takes place at the Liverpool Arena on May 13th. We're all rooting for you Mae!
