Singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti and Australian musician Natalie Imbruglia performed their new single, Ultime Parole, live from the top of the tower.

The pair joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar to give a stunning rendition of the new track on the Stool of Rock. The single - which represents the first time the duo have collaborated - is taken from Jack’s brand new Italian-language album, Miss Italia, which is out today (17th May). Speaking about how they teamed up, former Neighbours star Natalie said: “Our careers have intertwined from way back when, so we've known each other, but we've become friends because we live near each other and our kids know each other. And so Jack asked me to do this. And I'm just very much the kind of person that if there's no resistance, I don't question. And I was like, ‘This is amazing.’ Also for my dad, you know, being Italian. And also, I am 50 percent Sicilian. I've had my DNA test done…”

Jack interjected: “I think she's a little bit more than 50 percent. I think she’s a little bit more Sicilian than she knows.”

The song sees Natalie singing in Italian, despite not speaking the language. She said: “When I'd go to Italy, I would feel at home. But when you haven't been brought up speaking the language, it's a very bizarre thing. So this was an opportunity for me to connect with that, as well, and make my dad proud.”

Jack said: “It's amazing how much culture is in language. And that's something that I've learned. And I mean, even what Natalie just said is a perfect example of that, like, you can feel at home in your culture, you can relate to your culture, you can be a big part of it, and you can praise it. But when you learn the language, when you try to talk it, you really see the whispers of a culture, not so much the obvious or the aesthetic or the superficial. You really notice what people care about when you talk, where you put the weight on a word in a sentence, the meaning of that expression."

Jack and Natalie were joined for the performance by Shannon Harris on keys. Watch it here:

Having performed the song, Jack said: “How amazing is that? This is Natalie’s first time singing in Italian, by the way, live on radio.”

Natalie added: “I mean, if people could see the phonetics on the paper!”

Jack is in the midst of a UK and Europe tour, with 16 dates remaining, including in Margate and York, as well as the Hampton Court Palace Festival in June.

Meanwhile, Natalie will be joining The Corrs for their Talk on Corners tour in November, and will also be performing as a special guest for Shania Twain at British Summer Time in Hyde Park on Sunday 7th July, alongside The Corrs, Anne-Marie and Elle King.
