Sam Ryder at Virgin Radio.

When Sam Ryder joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch to play live from the top of the tower, he delivered an amazing cover version.

The Eurovision star’s set this morning (19th May) included a stripped-back version of You Got the Love. The song is by The Source featuring Candi Staton and is also known for Florence and the Machine’s cover of it from 2009.

Originally released in 1986, it was remixed and re-released in 1991, 1997, and 2006, and was a top five hit.

Sam was accompanied by guitarist Lewis Nelson for his superb live set. Watch their amazing performance of You Got the Love here:

During his session at the top of the tower, Sam also played his new single, Mountain, as well as Put a Light on Me and More from his debut album There’s Nothing But Space, Man which he released on 22nd December 2022.

Speaking about Mountain, he told Chris: "We all have something, mountains in our life that we're going to overcome, but they don't define us, and that's what the song is about."
