An organising expert has shared her top tips for a clutter-free home.

If the summer holidays has you looking around in despair, then these hacks might be a gamechanger for you.

One organisation expert and mum swears by some simple rules.

Called Barbara, she shared a video on TikTok explaining the "things I do in my home to stop it from getting completely out of control".

She says she washes "everything that's big in the shower".

"I’ve been doing this since the kids were in highchairs, it’s just the most convenient way to do it," she explained.

Next, she keeps the towels out of reach of little hands at the top of their airing cupboard, so the kids don't get a new one out "every time they have a shower".

Thirdly, Barbara loves a robot vacuum cleaner to keep her floors clean, saying it saves on time and helps to keep on top of things for those who aren't a fan of hoovering.

When it comes to storage, she prefers a minimalist look, and she decants everything in her pantry into clear containers with labels to keep it looking uniform and pleasing to look at.

With clothing, she likes to try and sort them from the very first stage of the washing process.

She then hangs them out on separate airers for each person.

One rule that people couldn't believe involves her kids clothes.

She confessed that she ever bothers to fold them.

"I don’t fold the kids’ clothes - controversial, I know," she said, revealing a drawer of unfolded garments.

Lastly, Barbara revealed that "shoes go in an open bucket because if it had a lid my family wouldn’t use it".

People were arguing about the folding, however one agreed, writing: "I don’t Fold clothes either. Hang their nice shirts but that’s it. Blows my friends minds. I’m like 2 and 1 on the way I don’t have time for that!"

"I fold my clothes… sometimes," Barbara replied, "And I fold my client’s clothes. But I have better things to to than fold my kids’ clothes."

"Seriously I do the same!" another wrote. "I hang up jumpers and cardigans and stuff but I have 3 girls!

"And they can never make their mind up when getting dressed, so all the folding I do just goes to waste so their clothes are in labelled drawers haha."

To which Barbara agreed: "Right! I get super cranky if I fold and they just rummage around and mess them up."
