As far as dream jobs go, it doesn't get much better than getting to spend your time on a stunning beach.

After the previous heatwave and record temperatures, the UK has been looking decidedly grey.

So if you're hankering after some more sunshine in your life, Soneva Fushi, a luxury resort in the Maldives, is hiring a ‘barefoot bookseller' that could be just the ticket.

They recruit a new person each year for the role, dubbed ‘possibly the best job in the world.’

So what would you have to do?

Simple, run the island’s bookshop, recommend reads to holidaymakers and that's about it.

It sounds like the start of a romantic comedy.

The job advert states: ‘Previous barefoot booksellers have provided guests with unforgettable literary experiences from writer’s workshops to personal reading consultations. We are interested to see what new ideas you can bring to the role.’

It starts in October.

So what skills do you need to bring to the role?

The description says the deal candidate "will be a team player with a passion for books and the ability to engage with guests of all ages."

As you're dealing with the written word, candidates must possess excellent written and verbal English skills and a "lively tone of voice" for updating their blog.

The wage isn't specified, but previous people who have had the role have raved about it.

Georgie Polhill, the previous candidate, said a highlight was interviewing Stanley Tucci ahead of a screening at their outdoor cinema.

‘You never know what adventures a new week will bring,’ said Georgie in a recent blog post.

You have until August 13 to apply.

To enter you must submit a CV and cover letter as well as 150 words about a book you’ve recently read.
