How's this for a super-chilled bedtime treat from the 90's queen of grunge? Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette has released her first meditation album The storm Before the Calm and listeners have lost the relaxed plot.

The talented mental health and mindfulness advocate has produced eleven sleep-inducing tracks, co-written alongside Dave Harrington (Darkside). The creation is available on app, Calm, which can be downloaded on iPhones and Androids for free for the first seven days.

Fans commented: "This is not music for my ears, this is music for my soul."

Another penned: "I love Alanis... for her music, light, love and tenderness that she brings from her heart to the world."

A third scribed: "Alanis is one of those prophet-level signers. I sensed that back in the 1990's. I love all her work."

One wrote: "Jesus love you, ALANIS MORISSETTE... forever AND ever like and ENDLESS river!"

Another praised: "Listening to this in my backyard, with the birds humming, butterflies flapping and the crickets chirping along. No industrial background noise. Almost like the clocks have stopped. It fits just perfectly. Thanks Alanis."

She wrote online: "I wanted to share the first song from Storm Before the Calm, my new meditation record entitled Safety: Empath in Paradise. During the the last while within the pandemic I felt very inspired to write and remain connected (didn’t always work and when it didn’t, it felt like a unique torture).

"All I knew was that I wanted to write a record that would offer something and throughout the process of creating it with Dave Harrington — beautifully and mercifully — it became its own multi-layered life raft during a time where I felt like I might disappear and float away.

"This album is filled with what I hope might be a safe invitation to and compatriot in your/our dropping in …. I offer this first song and the entire record to match and be available for any junctures on your personal journey whether it be relaxation or resting or releasing or emboldening or sweaty wildness or embodying or empowering or clarifying. May it serve as a catalyst, a soothing, a glimpse of awakening, an honouring, an objectivity, a wordless partner in healing, a place to land, inquire, breathe, notice.

"One in which you are held, in your lying down and jumping up, your movement, your numbness or your feelings… any of them… anger or clearing… sadness, grief, joy… fear, all are welcome. May this music serve as a friend in the thawing. A permission to feel and explore while feeling connected and supported."

The superstar is currently busy on stage with her European headline tour marking 25 years of Jagged Little Pill. On the North American part of her tour she'll be joined by special guest Garbage, while Beth Orton accompanies her on the European leg.
