Following the success of their Vegan Burger in the UK, KFC and Quorn are now rolling out a meat-free range across thousands of locations in Europe.

That’s right, if you’re a fan of those famous 11 Herbs and Spices at KFC but you don’t eat meat, then you’ll be interested to learn that Quorn and KFC are working on a whole bunch of new meat-free goodies.

Following the trial of some new veggie menu-items in Germany and the Netherlands, Quorn has joined forces with the fast-food chain to supply its mycoprotein based chicken in more European restaurants.

As reported by vegconomist, a meat-free menu is being put together, which will include wraps and big buckets. Customers in Germany will be the first to get the chance to sample the new products, before it will be introduced in thousands more restaurants across the rest of Europe.

Whilst it’s not clear exactly when KFC restaurants in the UK will start selling more meat-free food items, there is little doubt that there would be an appetite for them as, when the Vegan Chicken Burger launched back in 2020, sales were reportedly 500% higher than with a normal meat-based burger launch. Stock sold out in just four days!

Having received such a great reception, it’s unsurprising that the Original Recipe Vegan Burger is now a permanent menu item in the UK. It is made up of a Quorn fillet coated in those 11 herbs and spices, all in a sesame bun with fresh lettuce and vegan mayo.

Speaking about the rollout of more meat-free items across Europe, Chief Commercial Officer at Quorn, Peter Harrison, told vegconomist: “To cater to the growing demand for meat-free food around the world, we’re delighted to be working with KFC in more markets following the success of the KFC Vegan Chicken Burger in UK and Ireland."

He added: “Ensuring there are delicious meat-free food choices for consumers, wherever and whenever they make food decisions, is key to our mission of providing healthy food for people and planet.”
