We love a bag of classic Walkers, but unfortunately, the salt doesn't love us. Thankfully, the crisp giant are releasing new flavours with nearly half the amount of salt.
Bring on new Mild Cheese & Onion, Lightly Salted and A Dash of Salt & Vinegar which are 'non-HFSS' (high in fat, sugar and salt) following upcoming government restrictions on junk and fast food advertising.
From 2023, there will be a 9pm TV watershed on HFSS products in a bid to shake up the nation and get us (and our children) all eating healthier.
Crisp rivals KP Snacks are also joining the lower-salt, non-HFSS club as well as Tyrrells, Popchips and Hula Hoops Puft.
The NHS advises adults have no more than 6g per day, while a regular 25g packet of Walkers Ready Salted contains 0.34g of salt, Cheese & Onion contains 0.29g, Salt & Vinegar contains 0.4g.
The new packets contain between 0.16g-0.17g in a 25g bag and are available in supermarkets now.
Rachael Smith, Senior Marketing Manager at Walkers, said: "With lower salt alternatives now reaching over 70 per cent of UK households, we know consumers are always looking for great-tasting options.
"We firmly believe that this choice should never come at the expense of delicious flavour and with our new range, we're on a mission to prove that less salt is unexpectedly tasty.
"Our latest launch answers the demands of shoppers, whilst helping retailers to capitalise on a growing consumer trend."
