How to make a chocolate mugcake in one minute using Bourbon biscuits

If you like the idea of making sweet treats but are short on time and ingredients, then you’ll definitely be interested in a new mugcake recipe that an Instagram baker has created.

Online chef Laura Nightingale, who goes by the Instagram handle @cakeontherun, has put something together which takes just one minute and two ingredients to make. Now, that’s our kind of cooking! 

The only things you’ll need if you want to have a go at creating this mugcake are half a packet of bourbon biscuits (which obviously leaves the other half to just be eaten - result!), and one egg. Oh, and access to a microwave and a food processor or blender.

The recipe only serves one, so make sure you are on your own when you make it, otherwise you might have to share, which you are not going to want to do!

If you want to have a go at making the mugcake, here’s what you need to do: 

Firstly, get yourself six bourbon biscuits and an egg. 

Then, crush the biscuits in a food processor or blender to a fine consistency, and pour the crumb mixture into a mug and stir in an egg.

Mix until thick and smooth.

Microwave on high for one minute.

The recipe then gives the option of topping with melted chocolate or a quick homemade frosting (1 tsp margarine mixed with 2 tsp cocoa powder).

And hey presto, you’ve got yourself a mugcake!
