We never thought we'd see the Golden Arches get into the bikini business, but 2022 is full of surprises!

The franchise in Australia wants to see everyone’s burger buns in their new swimwear collection for men and women, which includes bikinis, one-piece swimsuits, bucket hats and even briefs embellished with the famous fries and shakes.

Maccy-D’s have teamed up with the aptly named swimwear company Budgy Smuggler, and tweeted out the exciting news, writing: "Hey @BudgySmuggler how 'bout we make some nuggie smugglers?"

The brand responded, simply replying: “We are game.”

It’s now of course the height of the Australian summer (lucky Aussies!) and anyone wanting to show off their loyalty to Macca’s can do so for around $55 to $90 Australian dollars (£29.11 to £47.64).

The incredibly fun designs include a red-and-white checker board style with fries dotted around, a bold red print adorned with fries, burgers and drinks, and then the white design with animated food wrapper text.

According to Newsweek, senior brand manager for McDonald’s Australia, Liz Whitbread, said of the collaboration: “This summer is all about doing things we love with people we love. The limited-edition range of swimwear is bold, fun and eye-catching, perfect for enjoying the summer season in style."

The joint collaboration comes as the Golden Arches celebrates 50 years in Australia. The fast-food chain opened up its very first location back in 1971 and now has over 1000 restaurants across the country.

It’s not the only McDonald’s collaboration to leave people scratching their heads, as back in December, they teamed up with Queen of Christmas herself Mariah Carey to create a new ‘Mariah’ menu in the US.

While it’s not yet known if we’ll be so lucky to buy these bikinis and trunks over here, we can always remain hopeful that the Aussies would be ‘lovin’ it’ enough to get a worldwide release.
