Sometimes even our four-legged friends need a break.

You often see people take their dogs on holiday with them, but why should cats miss out?

It turns out there are plenty of places that will accept felines for a trip away with you.

Sure, we can't guarantee that your moggy will be happy to walk on a lead with you, but if nothing else it will provide a nice change of scenery looking out of the window.

An inner-city kitty could soon be joining you on a countryside break.

Here are some of the best places to try.

Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel, Hitchin

Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel is a beautiful country house, set in four acres of gardens.

There are stunning scenic views across Hertfordshire’s countryside to enjoy, so lots for your cat to look at.

Small pets are allowed in the hotel, but they do request that they are well behaved and stay off the bed. If they cause any extra damage or mess the place up with mud there will be extra charges.

The Jack Russel Inn, Andover

Just don't mention the name and your cat will be fine.

Despite the dog title, The Jack Russell Inn welcomes cats and other pets too.

The estate it is set within focuses on the conservation of natural beauty and wildlife. After a long day of exploring and walks you can enjoy some delicious local food.

Even better, there is underfloor heating that your cat will love (and keep your feet cosy too).

Tiggers Cottage, Berkshire

Tiggers is a much more appropriate name, and as well as the cute title it's a picture-perfect 180-year-old, black and white Tudor cottage.

Even better, it's found just a stone's throw away from Bray High Street with lovely views over the memorial gardens.

The owner has two Labradors, Sambuca and Truffle, who are always happy to join you for a walk.

Holiday Cottages at Farditch Farm, Peak District

Treat yourself to stunning self-catering accommodation in the Peak District National Park.

Located near the village of Chelmorton, they accept cats and other small pets.

There are six luxury cottages available, made up of three converted barn buildings. If you're in a big group there is interconnecting doors, and the cottages sleep from 6-22 people.

Church Cottage, Somerset

Church Cottage is a luxury cottage that prides itself on being pet-friendly.

This stunning property is surrounded by Somerset countryside, located within the hamlet of Ashwick.

As well as the scenery around you, the cottage also has beautiful gardens and views over a five-acre paddock.

Six people can stay, in a master double and twin rooms.
