If you’ve ever seen the ridiculously popular LEGO Movie, and even if you haven’t, you’ll probably be familiar with the song Everything Is AWESOME!!!, which spent six weeks in the UK Singles Chart back in 2014, and became an unofficial slogan for all things LEGO.

But, and just in time for Pride Month, the slogan is getting an LGBTQ+ themed overhaul, with a brand-new LEGO kit created to celebrate the diversity of the community and of LEGO fans.

The set features a buildable Pride flag with eleven colourful stripes, including pink, light-blue and white stripes to represent Transgender Pride, and black and brown stripes to represent marginalised members of the community. There are also eleven exclusive minifigures, one for each stripe and colour, which feature individual hairstyles to celebrate diversity, as well as the need for inclusivity within the community.

The colourful kit was designed by Matthew Ashton, Vice-President of Design, who said: “I am fortunate to be a part of a proud, supportive and passionate community of colleagues and fans. We share love for creativity and self-expression through LEGO bricks and this set is a way to show my gratitude for all the love and inspiration that is constantly shared.”

This sense of community is evident on the Lego website, where a collection of AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) have built their own pieces to celebrate Pride Month, including a rainbow tree, a LEGO Pride float, and a colourful mosaic.

But the community of fans who are enjoying the set even includes celebrities, with Matthew sharing this video of LGBTQ+ Icon and actor Leslie Jordan attempting to build it (with the help of a magnifying glass!):

The set is available to buy on the LEGO website and in-store, features 346 pieces, and costs £30.99 in the UK. LEGO haven’t said whether any of the proceeds from the set will go to specific LGBTQ+ charities, but they have partnered with organisations such as Stonewall and Workplace Pride ‘to help shape strategies to support employees who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies across the company’.
