Say hello to the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury Western Australia, who this week posted footage for the first time ever, of dolphins nicking fish from crab pots.
The amazing mammals can be using dexterously using their nose and teeth to get at the bait, most often a whole fish, there to lure crustaceans bound for restaurants, into the traps.
Some traps are easier than others, but every problem is solved, even when the bait is shut in a box, within the trap, you’d need a padlock to keep these guys out.
The footage is interesting for dolphin researchers who were surprised how much effort and problem solving they made, but for the lobster and crab fishermen, it’s nothing new.
“it happens all the time” said crabber Russell Dawson, “If you see some dolphins around you can guarantee you’re going to get your crab nets raided”

Who doesn’t love a good old Lassie story, you know, the dog that gets the human to follow them to rescue someone, or find something vital and in this recent Cornish case, that thing was a gorgeous cat called Mowgli.
Say hello to Michele Rose, and her dog Daisy who absolutely adores her feline brother, named after the lead character in the jungle book. When Mowgli went missing, Daisy was beside herself because she’d known Mowgli since he was a tiny kitten and is very maternal towards him and his brother, of course Balloo.
After six days of heartbreak for everyone, Michele and Daisy were walking near the Old Prince Of Wales Mineworks when Daisy went uncharacteristically berzerk and insisted her mum follow her to the top of a really deep mineshaft. Michelle realised what was going on and called the RSPCA who sprung into action the next day and found Mowgli over 100 feet down, amazingly unhurt, cats are so awesome!
